Five Short Film Ideas.

1. SN1PER – This is probably the main idea I have for a short film that consists of a Sniper on a post apocalyptic planet earth, he believes he is one of the few survivors. The film will be put together with no talking from our character apart from voice over narration of his time since the apocalypse, Our character will be trained marine sniper at the top of his profession. Although throughout the narration we get flashbacks to his Encounters with various enemies that have also survived the Apocalypse and are striving to gain anything they can to help themselves survive. We are then bought to the grim reality that our character has one bullet remaining for his precious sniper which has got him out of so much trouble. Our character has made camp upon a roof of a abandoned shack that he has found. With a clear view around the shack he stays there for many days maybe even months, with a whole cut out so he can get inside the shack, he can drop back in for food or supplies.

One morning he is woken with sounds of screams and shouting, he scrambles his way to the roof to see what is going on, he is greeted by the sight of a young women who is clearly past her best and been through a phew battles herself, being chased by a very large looking, dishevelled, knife wielding man. Our Character is then faced with the choice of using his last bullet to save the young women and lessen his chances of survival or save the bullet and keep quiet.

2. RoadTrip – As most of you all ready know i’m a massive car fan, and one of my short film ideas is to film and document a road trip all the way across, starting in Coventry and ending up in Monaco, Monte Carlo to stay over and wake the next morning to have a look around the world famous luxurious location. The short film we based around myself and another co-driver on the trip, it will document all of our mishaps and adventures along the way. The Short film will be filled with some amazing shots from some special locations along the way with some magnificent views.

R32 Short Promo

After having my amazing new Golf R32 MK5 for a while now, once i get back to uni i want to get out some equipment and go crazy with some video work of the car. I have a lot of ideas buzzing around my head and want to apply them to reality.

I want to shoot a tasteful promo/edit of the car with some very unique shots with a strong soundtrack, but I aim to make it different from others online. This will help with my aim of breaking into automotive photography/video.

I have been doing some research and found a couple of tasteful videos that are similar to what i would like to do.

Heres one for example.

Revenge Synopsis Written by me.

Image

Plot.

The start of the film will start up close on Ben’s face as he runs towards the camera in a dark dingy corridor clearly emotional as he bursts though a door he breaks down in tears but we don’t know why.

Ben and his best mate Rich are on the road for revenge against a group of ex mercenaries who have kidnapped and are torturing their girlfriends. This all started when the two girls went for a party vacation with a group of friends to Kavos in Greece a popular destination for young people to party and drink all night. This group of sadistic men have realised this and take advantage of drunken girls who are an easy target.

Fortunately Rich’s uncle Bruce is also an ex mercenary who gives them the training, skills and equipment needed to combat this heinous organization after the group of girls make them aware of what has transpired.

The two brave young men venture out to Kavos not with the same intent most lads their age go there for. Trending nicknames on the back of there bullet proof ballistic armour, they start the hunt and start finding clues, retracing there beloved’s footsteps and sometimes blood to find there holding place.

After many run in’s with people trying to defend the mercenaries where about’s they finally end up at a hilltop warehouse the kind you would expect in a horror movie, after working there way through the building taking out many pawns in the organizations small army they reach two of the head guys.

After a long fist fight battle with the two mercs, Ben and Rich stand over the two fallen men. Clapping is heard in the distance as Bruce Richs uncle appears from the darkness, Shocked Ben and Rich question Bruce trying to figure out what was going on and Bruce said I told my boys to take Rachel and Claire as they were easy targets and I knew where they would be

travelling. Confusion and anger formed on the two brave young soldiers who had fought long and hard to get this far and they knew they were close, as Rich whispered to Ben you look for the girls I got this!

So the big finale is a fight between Rich and his Uncle Bruce in a fight to the death and Ben running the corridors of the warehouse searching for the girls. It goes back to the seen right at the start of the film but this time the camera shows us what Ben see’s, the two girls tied up on chairs with various torture tools and devices in the room, the two young girls are battered and bruised but alive.

It then cuts back to the fight between family where Bruce seems to be getting the better of the younger and inexperienced nephew till the point that Bruce has Rich pinned to the floor and a gun at his face.

But as he goes to pull the trigger Ben has appeared behind and shot Bruce in the back of the head with the two girls holding on to him drained and beaten. The film then ends with camera rising to the roof slowly revealing the vast amount of bodies sprawled over the floor and the four survivors’ in a huddle like embrace.

Remaking a fairytale.

For our project of making a modern fairy tale i haven chosen to use Beauty and the beast as I feel i can work around this fairytale very well using web tools, i don’t want to give to much away but it should turn out really well. I plan on getting the video narrated throughout so that you know what is going on in the images and video, some of the tools i plan on using are dating websites, Facebook, google maps, PDF’s pulled off websites etc, the story should be quite strong yet comical at the same time.

Troll Hunter Movie Review

Another review to bring you, my beautiful audience this time its about the movie Troll Hunter which recently came out on DVD and Blu Ray, and after its release the film has kicked up a lot of media attention with a bag of mixed reviews, so i thought i have to see this film myself even though its subtitled, one thing i don’t get along with is subtitled films. After the first 10-15 mins i was slightly bored with the handy camera work following a mysterious beardy man around in an old beaten up Land Rover.

After a while though the film seemed to pick up pace once the group tail the beardy man to a spooky forest in the dark of night, the film really becomes more interesting from there on in, i felt that the creators tried to hard with the suspense of revealing the Troll from the forest. Although the scene where the Beardy man shouts TROLL!!! is priceless, I thought the scenes we see of the Trolls is actually quite well done and i think the Trolls look just liked i’d imagine a Troll to look like. On the other hand i did have a secondary school teacher that has a striking resemblance to some of the Trolls.

I personally enjoyed the scene where the group venture into a Trolls lair and get trapped by the returning family of trolls, this scene built up a lot suspense with the camera shots of the frantic camera man vigourasly rubbing Troll stench over him as he is terrified at this point.

My final thoughts on Troll hunter are that i like the concept of the movie, the characters could have been different and had some kind of back story with them, the Hunter himself was great, some of the camera work was good at times, but the whole way through the film all I kept thinking was Where the wild things are had been turned into a horror unfortunately.

DRIVE Film Review

DRIVE is an intriguing story about a driver that remains unnamed throughout the movie, the main character is a full time stunt driver who does part time get away driving for petty thief’s in the neighbourhood with his advance driving techniques. The plot soon thickens when an attractive women is thrown into the midst who quickly works her way into the protagonists life, Irene is a single mother, her gangster boyfriend is in jail for crimes he has committed.

After a short time Irene’s boyfriend is released and he reignites there relationship as a family unit, our main character is seemingly being pushed out of her life as Irene’s boyfriend is very controlling. Until our main character realise’s that Irene and her sons lives are at risk he acts quickly to make sure they are safe. The Driver has to do one big job working with Standard, Irene’s boyfriend to clear his record and keep his family safe. This is all spins dramatically out of control and our hero is sent a road of criminal acts and gun fights with some of the  most ruthless criminal big shots in LA.

I completely enjoyed DRIVE from start to finish, at the beginning of the film there is a lack of dialogue which I thought added to the moments that we see on camera, it made the emotional and more memorable scenes more gripping. The lack of dialogue from the main character added to his laid back and care free approach to life, until he has his back against the wall. Ryan Gosling plays a great roll as the driver and really entice’s the audience.

I would really advise everybody to watch DRIVE if you get a chance as it’s a great film and full of action towards the end, and some great acting throughout.
